QuinnThornton
is a pianist @ the prestigious University of North Texas (UNT) Jazz studies program. Q’s thrilled to be working with acclaimed professor & Jazz violinist Scott Tixier in the Fall 2025 Lab Band season. Prior to UNT, Quinn studied with renowned artist George Colligan who’s performed with Jazz luminaries Jack DeJohnette, Buster Williams, Christian McBride, & many more.
Bio
Quinn cut his teeth at The1905 in Portland, Oregon — one of DownBeat Magazine’s top Jazz Clubs in the world. He’s also appeared at the Port Townsend Jazz Festival in the revered trio led by legendary drummer Jeff Hamilton who has worked with Ella Fitzgerald, Rosemary Clooney, the Count Basie Orchestra, Oscar Peterson, Ray Brown, and Diana Krall.

By age 16, Quinn’s been fortunate to share the stage with mentor George Colligan; bassists Chuck Israels, Phil Baker, & Ed Bennett; drummers Ali Jackson, Domo Branch, Jonathon Pinson, Todd Strait, Ron Steen, & Michael Raynor; guitarists Yoav Eshed & Jack Radsliff; trumpeter Noah Simpson + many more extraordinary Pacific Northwest &/or visiting Jazz musicians.
